Faculty of Bio and Health Sciences

Genetic Micro Systems

Welcome to the Faculty of Bio and Health Sciences, German University Bangladesh (GUB). Diversification and deepening of the basic sciences has been accelerating in the 21st century and plays an important role for socioeconomic development as well as the improvement of the quality of life. “Health science” is really “fundamental science” — it is the science at the heart of human knowledge. Science, technology and socioeconomic development are interrelated and influence each other. All scientific disciplines (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, etc.) have both basic and applied aspects. Basic science is more basic in the sense that without discovery of principles there is nothing to apply. Applied science relies on and could not exist without basic science.

Keeping the above facts in mind, Faculty of Basic Sciences at GUB is consisting of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, and Biology, etc. These fundamental sciences deal as the building blocks of applied sciences.

The Basic Science Courses offered by each department covers a significant part of the Engineering, Biological and Environmental curricula. The syllabus has been designed to enrich the students’ understanding towards the subjects with a view to helping them in encountering practical problems in their professional careers. The courses in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Sociology and History, and other related basic sciences are included in the curricula and can be seen from individual department website.

In this faculty, there are three high-profile active faculties of whom one is a PhD holder. In addition, a number of well competent faculties from different public universities join the faculty as adjunct and part-time faculties. The faculty is committed to nurture and sharpen the intellectual growth and skills of the students through the application and dissemination of basic knowledge by good examples, practice and exercises. All academicians are engaged in research works, seminars, workshops, symposium and many other dynamic activities to highlight the demand of contemporary era.

Perhaps the most visible evidence of our faculties can be found in the laboratory facilities. Our wide spaced separate laboratories are in the state-of-the-art facilities. The quality of technical education is dependent not only on the quality of the faculty members & the students but also on the laboratory facilities. The laboratories are self-sufficient and rich in modern instruments. These full-fledged laboratories serve the Engineering and Bioscience faculty students to perform their practical experiments. The teachers also use these laboratories for their research and development works.

“Noble Way To Build A Better Future” is our motto. Thank you all for your interest in our website.

Faculty of Bio and Health Sciences will be headed by the Dean. The Dean and his pro-Deans will be elected by the faculty council. Duties of the deans have been written in the basic rules and regulation of the university.
