Born on February 24, 1961; Göttingen, Lower Saxony Professor Dr. Thomas M. Klapoetke will be the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the GUB. He shall be responsible for research, faculty appointment matters and promotion of young scientists. He will also perform other duties determined by the statues of the University and assigned by the VC. He also supervises Chemical Laboratories. Thomas M. Klapötke is received his Ph.D. in 1986 (TU Berlin), post-doc in Fredericton, New Brunswick, habilitation in 1990 (TU Berlin). From 1995 until 1997 Klapötke was Ramsay Professor of Chemistry at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. Since 1997 he has held the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry at LMU Munich.

Born 0000 in Berlin Professor of veterinary medicine and educational psychology Dr. Leo Brunnberg will be responsible for the areas of international relations and liaison with the German Government.
Prof. Dr. Leo Brunnberg is head of the Small Animal Clinic, Freie Universität Berlin since 20 years. He is specialist in animal surgery and is one of the leading persons in Europe in this field. He is the programming director of the European College of Veterinary Surgery (ESVS) since 15 years in Berlin. He has been Dean of the Faculty for 10 years (2003-2013) and Senator of the Academic Senate, Freie Universität for 15 years and 4 year of the Medical School Charité.After qualifying as a veterinarian (German state examination) in Munich, he received professional training in surgery for 3 years and 3 years in radiology.

Born 1951 in (Niedersachsen) Professor Dr. med. Cornelius Froemmel will be responsible for developing and promoting Medical Education, Nursing Education Curricula of GUB. Moreover he will also be working on the policy development and promotion of Teachers Education Program of German University Bangladesh.

Professor Dr. S M Iqbal Hossain received his B. Sc. in Agricultural Engineering and M. Sc. in Agricultural Engineering from the Department of Farm Power and Machinery, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering & Technology of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh in the year 1984 and 1989 respectively. He obtained his Ph. D. in Agricultural Engineering (Soil and Water Management) at Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Philippines in 2001. Areas of his expertise are: Post harvest technology and Food processing; Farm mechanization and Machinery Management, and Soil, Water & Irrigation
Management.
 
Professor Dr. S. M. Iqbal Hossain started his career at Bangladesh Sugarcrops Research Institute (BSRI) as Assistant Agricultural Engineer in Agricultural Engineering Division from 14 June 1988. He was promoted as Associate Scientific Officer and worked there until 9 April 2006. During this period he conducted research on various research program related to Mechanization, and Irrigation and Water Management for Sugarcane in Bangladesh.
 
Professor Dr. S M Iqbal Hossain then joined Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) as Associate professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering in 2006. He was promoted to professor in 2011. He worked as a head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering (AE). He was the chairman of the “Board of Studies” of the Department of AE and was also member of the Academic Council. He worked in BSMRAU as the Director (Transport) for more than 5 years. He also rendered his service as an expert member of the “Tender Evaluation Committee (TEC)” of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) from 2010 to 2014.
 
Professor Dr. S M Iqbal Hossain then joined German University Bangladesh (GUB) in the Department of Food Science and Engineering in 2016. He served GUB in different important academic and administrative positions including Head, Department of Food Science and Engineering, Dean,, Faculty of Engineering Science, Member of Academic Council, Member of the Syndicate, member of the OBE curriculum Committee, Chairman of the promotional Committee, Chairman of IQC of the faculty of Engineering Science, and Director (Research, Seminar, & workshop).
 
Professor Dr. S M Iqbal Hossain has 38 publications in different national and international journals. He has also 6 popular articles published in different newspapers. He received 15 professional trainings on different tropics such as Administrative, financial & research management, Agricultural machinery management, Statistical methods for data analysis, IELTS, GIS, Advanced research methodology, Hands-on Orientation for new program evaluators, and  “Concept and Development of OBE and OBE curriculum”,  “Formulation and implementation of OBE curriculum” in home and abroad. He has visited U.K. Philippines, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
 
Professor Dr. S M Iqbal Hossain was appointed as Acting Vice Chancellor of German University Bangladesh, effective from 2 July 2023 and he took the charge of Acting Vice Chancellor from the previous Acting Vice Chancellor on 5 July 2023. Since then he is providing his service to GUB as Acting Vice Chancellor with honesty and sincerity.

Pro-VC for Research

Klapötke is received his Ph.D. in 1986 (TU Berlin), post-doc in Fredericton, New Brunswick, habilitation in 1990 (TU Berlin). From 1995 until 1997 Klapötke was Ramsay Professor of Chemistry at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. Since 1997 he has held the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry at LMU Munich. In 2009 Klapötke was appointed a Visiting Professor at CECD, University of Maryland and in 2014 he was appointed a Adjunct Professor at the University of Rhode Island. Klapötke is a Fellow of the RSC (C.Sci., C.Chem. F.R.S.C.), a member of the ACS and the Fluorine Division of the ACS, a member of the GDCh, and a Life Member of both the IPS and the National Defense Industrial Association. Most of Klapötke's scientific collaborations are between LMU and ARL in Aberdeen, MD and ARDEC in Picatinny, NJ. Klapötke also collaborates with ERDC in Champaign, IL. And Prof Ang, How-Ghee (NTU, Singapore). He is the executive editor of Zeitschrift für Anorganische und Allgemeine Chemie, the Subject Editor in the area of explosives synthesis of the Central European Journal of Energetic Materials and an editorial board member of Propellants, Explosives and Pyrotechnics, the Journal of Energetic Materials, and the International Journal of Energetic Materials and Chemical Propulsion. Klapötke has published over 650 papers, 30 book chapters and eight books.

He earned his doctorate in traumatic diseases in the elbow joint of dogs. He completed his academic career with a habilitation thesis (PhD) in cruciate ligaments in dogs. Up to now he published more than 200 papers in peer reviewed journals.As doctoral adviser he supervised more than 150 doctoral and 4 PhD thesis.In 2012 Prof. Brunnberg received the Federal Cross of Merit with ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany for his achievements, his commitment in supporting young academics, especially young veterinarians from foreign countries and his sociopolitical merits.

Treasurer

His Excellency President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the University has appointed Professor Md. Moazzem Hossain Miah  as the Treasurer of German University Bangladesh  for a tenure of four years. He joined the position on 27 February 2023.

Professor Dr.-Ing. Saifullah Khandker

Born 1952 in Ghatail, Tangail, Bangladesh.
He is a Professor of Food Science and Technology and Environment Specialist, Professor Dr.-Ing. Saifullah Khandker is the Founder of German University Bangladesh. He is responsible for overall supervision and implementation of all work of GUB.

 

Areas of Responsibility

The Scientific Adviser will extend his support and cooperation in implementing the policy and decisions make by the Board of Vice Chancellor and the Board of Trustees and particularly in executing the following responsibilities:
